One of the top understatements in WoS history: "Arti can be a bit brash..." Congrats.
Will someone summon the stone mason and get this carved on the obelisk..?!
And the nice obelisk too. Not that crappy one we keep put Czar's nonsense on.

[META] Would be a good source for NWP like book binding, paper making, ink making, and by extension, being able to discover forgeries and handwriting analysis. Remember, the more you write... the more COB will use to paint a better story... (And ultimately use against you!)

As Eioin begins to turn The Pommade grabs his hand, catching Eioin off guard. "If the king asks you about Parayko, do not be disturbed if your memory of the question is then as it is now." The Pommades's subtle sigh and slumping of shoulders are a message. {The appearance of the previously named is suspect at best.} Direct eye contact from the Pommade make the message more defined. {The wizard's motives are unknown} With a slight turn of his wrist as he released Eioin's hand, a third message is understood. {Do what you must to find out}. Raising his eyebrows, Eioin indicates back to the Pommade he understands the non-verbal messages and will comply with the directive.Eioin leaves. Eioin makes his way to the Royal chambers. As he approaches the closed, guarded door, Eioin steps up to guard team supervisor.
"Would you please ask the Secretarius Regius to inform his Majesty that I am prepared to offer him my report, should the King grant me an audience?" The guard, with the briefest of head movement combined with the slight raising of the left eyebrow, signalled his inquiry of if Eioin would be waiting or...
"Yes. I'll wait for an answer. I'm prepared for the Royal interview now."
The guard-leader inclines his head in response and disappears inside the door, as Eioin turns to admire the beauty of the artwork in the corridor.

"Thank you for your audience and your attentiveness, your Grace. I remain always at your disposal with such advise as I'm allowed to feebly provide."The Pommade then begins asking questions. "Do you believe Parayko to be true, that the demon wishes to use the emerald court as a way to gain patrol in the netherworld? Do you believe Nogel to be true, that Blackout serves as a buffer between our people and the insidious schemes of the Sword Rulers? "I feel that Nogel's point-of-view and counsel, though wise and keen, isn't always what may be best for the Elven peoples. He may feel his way is the 'right' way, but he has not always been correct in the past. Further, whether clandestinely or for less nefarious reasons, his mindset may be caused by the proximity to the dragon. Who IS evil in all things."Do you believe Metror to be true, that he was going to warn Elam out of concern for his friend or that Metror is as all goblins before him, a villain of the lowest order who deserves nothing but contempt and most assuredly no mercy?" "As a collective, the Goblins are a pitiable race, but each are individuals, as are other gatherings of like creatures. I would hope enlightenment has a chance to spark everywhere. Perhaps Metror was truly acting on an instinctual need to protect 'the group' as I've observed has a strong pull amongst the Goblin creatures. I am no lover of Goblins, and I've sent may to the under-world, but at some point, should the slate be wiped clean? If there are those amongst them who would value safety and peace over destruction and violence, shouldn't we reward this type of overture? I don't want to always 'hate'. I want to bring the knowledge of the demiurge that is Corellon Latharian to all who value beauty over destruction... sharing instead of hording... those who value the touch of a child's hand, instead of a slap to the face. Be they Elven or no. I would hope my children or their children, will look about them and see neighbors of humans, goblins and all speaking creatures of the land. Let them be judged for their actions and not of their birth. For then we will truly have seen Beauty in the world." "I have not the connection to our lord Correllon as some do. I can do minor magics but my devotion is in the form of organizational skills and such. No less important but no spells can keep the books in order." "I can offer a little advice as to what I would do right now if I were you." "Have not the regret that your friends called your name at the moment of truth but you left them wanting. Have not the regret that some other way yet unseen will come forth in your darkest hour. Lastly, do not take on the guilt of others for your guilt is yours alone as theirs will be theirs. You will not held accountable for the decisions of others." "This is the advice from an old time quill and ink scribe. I wish I had more true friends but I do not because I chose to spend my time doing something else. Regret is the realm of lost hopes." Smiling at the Pommade, Eioin replies, "I regret nothing. Decisions and words are those of their situation, and I'll not shed a tear over dribbled wine, though at times, my more hasty side may appear to get the better of me. I try to judge all things, as I know one day I too will be judged, and I hope to not be found wanting. Corellon Larethian sees all and knows all. He gives strength to the tired arm chiseling away to release the marbled beauty contained within the block. He steadies the quill, be it scratching poetry or filling ledgers, as both can hold elegance and grace. He sooths those who have chapped lips be it caused by the ceaseless practice of the piper or those who tend and watch the flocks, as both have artistry and refinement in their acts.
"For too long, we've been held fast by petty desires... gold, land, resources, even so-called power... Power... true power is found within. Flesh is stronger than steel, in the grand scheme of things. And as they've attempted to pronounce and portend, should the death of the dragon or any others, truly allow or perhaps ushers in an Age of Steel or a world governed by Sword Rulers, they'll soon find their hammered metal to be dented and their keen edged swords shattered. Albeit it capable, a weapon cannot destroy a thought. And thoughts, are what separate us and join us together."
He bows deeply and when Eioin stands, he says, "Alas, I must now move to discuss the happenings and answer the questions of the King."

As Eioin watches the portal close, sealing the route the others have taken to try and aid "Blackout" the dragon, he closes his eyes and offers a fervent prayer... "Corellon Larethian, it is I, Eioin Boughsinger, your most humble and obedient. I ask of you at this moment to please spare a bit of your total and immense power to ensure these wayward companions of mine are as safe as their misguided attempts at 'balance' may keep them. "They know not what harm they try to do in keeping the darkest evil alive. They do not understand that their misplaced desire, done in the name of 'balance' will undoubtedly bring pain and suffering. And at what cost? I hope they see that they are playing the role of gods themselves by nurturing an evil of old... a taint upon your beloved lands and rich forests. "If only they could see what they jeopardize. If only they could look into the faces and eyes of those who suffer, they would do all in their power to stop suffering and not to encourage evil things, as a means to achieve an unachievable equilibrium. "I've tried to guide them in all of the wisdom you've given me. I want them to know the appreciation of beauty, and not any self-righteous parity. "I ask you for the hope of their eternal souls, Corellon Larethian and I trust in your beauty, song, poetry and joy. I am not worthy, but in you I find strength. "This my fervent hope and prayer go to you. In all things. Beauty." Eioin opens his eyes, turns and makes his way to the Pommade to explain all which has occurred.

So who asks about my guilds and why? Go back to bed Bart. In Bart's mind, he hears Eioin... " But don't hurry back too soon, Bart. I'm not quite done with your Mrs.!"

I can only give this real world example to try and explain how the codified position by TSR relates to actual physical issues. Roman "Heavy" (meaning they wore armor) infantry backpacks weighed about twice the amount as that toted by modern military. [More Info: history.stackexchange.com/questions/2421/how-does-the-amount-of-equipment-carried-by-various-historical-infantries-compar]My personal example is when I got over to the war, I loaded up every 30 round magazine I could carry and had all of my LBE gear full! I had hand grenades pinned everywhere and I even kept several belt rounds of M60 ammo nearby. That shit lasted about two days. Bullets weigh a TON and it wasn't worth ALWAYS having to carry it on me. It was nearby, but there was no way in the world it made sense to have it ready at hand on my p erson. So... bottom line is, carry only what you need (belt pouch, cloak pockets, etc.), and have nearby (backpack, wooden chest, etc.) what you need available but don't " ready-need" on you. Also, when gaming keep the image in mind of what you look like. That way when you decide to have your character charge around a chaotic battle field, or while the group is creeping through a wet tunnel, or even when walking up to be introduced to royalty, you'll better understand when the DM puts obstacles in your way. (See the image below... what kind of reception would this warrior get from a noble court, or how long/far could he run with all that crap on? And if he did, what would he drop in order to live?) Running with a fully loaded backpack sucks, just ask any Army recruit or backpacker being chased by a grizzly. (I'm sure the Marines do it too, but honestly, who cares? ) To me, 'good' gaming is taking real-world reality and seeing how to incorporate and relate it to the AD&D world. Attachments:

(Thinking to himself, Eioin ponders...)
This Muggleb is an anomaly to be sure, but he's made great strides recently. Who knew the damned goblins could be somewhat civilized and rational?
His rashness, disrespectful attitude and overall inexperience may yet get him killed, but it's interesting to see. I wonder how many others of his race have a similar ability to grow and prosper?
Is this deep hatred for their kind... and I suppose their hatred for the other races... fair? Is it a situation of a millennia of fostered learning heaped upon itself in a beginning with the source of the hatred so long ago forgotten?
What do they want? Do they not desire their offspring to grow? Do they not have a need to live without fear? Do they not crave food, drink and merriment?
Death is so, so final.

Watched it. First I've heard Skrillex. Somatic component noted. So how many levels do I get to add to Eioin again?

(And is sure to go the same fate as the penny as well.)

So... I'm watching/listening to this piece called "First of the Year": by Skrillex.
Around minute 1:18 I saw a good example of what somatic spell components in casting would look like, along with their effects. It's a pretty cool build up but if you don't have the total of 3:14 to spare, I won't be offended.
Also, you may not be into the music, so feel free to turn off the sound (there are no spell casting sound effects). However after our in-game AD&D 2nd Ed. spell casting discussion, I thought this would be a good example of why a person has to be in the position they were taught/trained (and continue to practice) in order to cast a spell.
