Muggleb was born into violence and fear. A goblin of the Blitzkreeg tribe, he never felt comfortable bullying smaller goblins or participating in all the cruel behaviors present in goblin society. For this he was shunned and eventually left behind by a goblin war party in hopes he would be killed by the elves of the Emerald Forest.
Fortunately for Muggleb he was captured by an elven war wizard named Parayko. Parayko had noticed Muggleb's unusual behaviors during several spy missions he made. Originally he had hoped to capture a goblin young enough to see if heredity or environment would be the stronger influence but Muggleb seemed to be ready to take direction and also seemed eager to learn.
Parayko never told Muggleb his true name, only allowing Muggleb to refer to him as 'master'.
Parayko taught Muggleb emeraukil, the wood elves language, along with several useful skills for surviving alone in the woods. How to hide using your surroundings, how to use a hand crossbow and a knife, and lastly how to recognize when a spell has been cast or when situations of spell casting are observable, sometimes even identifying a spell as it is being cast.
Parayko grew to be very fond of Muggleb and admired his ability to overcome a goblin's innate fear of arcane magic. Muggleb proved to be a trusted friend of the wizard and even was given freedom to come and go from the wizard. Muggleb never betrayed the wizard nor did he seem ungrateful.
One day Parayko intorduced Muggleb to his master weaponsmith Elam. Elam had just discovered a knife with a wavy blade that shone with the gold and silver tint of platinum, although Muggleb did not know nor use these precious metals in his day to day life. In a ceremony of adulthood Parayko bestowed the knife to Muggleb and told him to take care of the knife as if his life depended on it. He then uttered a spell of naming but Muggleb did not hear the true name of the knife as his excitement and wonder filled his senses for that brief moment.
Much later Parayko would discover a short sword with similar magics as the knife that Muggleb carried. He gave the sword to Elam and asked him to take it to the tree city of Featherfall to see if anyone could find out what secerets the sword might hold. Elam learned the sword was used in an assassination attempt on the Pommade of the Church of Correllon Larethian some 300 years ago. The attempt failed and the sword was given to the elven smith Kincadrathanos to destroy.
Why it was never destroyed and how it ended up lost in the woods is a mystery to this day.

He then sent a magical 'sending' to Elam telling him everything he had learned.
In his thoughts Elam knew Muggleb would come one day but he also knew he was not a traveler or warrior and the sword should be in an elf's possession who was both of those things. He waited for someone to come along who he thought could carry the sword and possibly run into Muggleb in the forest because he knew if Muggleb tried to come to Featherfall he would be killed before any good could come of his training and his knowledge.
So Muggleb moved about and hid right under the watchful eyes of the elves for almost a year before he was finally captured.
