So... I'm watching/listening to this piece called "First of the Year": by Skrillex.
Around minute 1:18 I saw a good example of what somatic spell components in casting would look like, along with their effects. It's a pretty cool build up but if you don't have the total of 3:14 to spare, I won't be offended.
Also, you may not be into the music, so feel free to turn off the sound (there are no spell casting sound effects). However after our in-game AD&D 2nd Ed. spell casting discussion, I thought this would be a good example of why a person has to be in the position they were taught/trained (and continue to practice) in order to cast a spell.
