(Arztie and Aluna return from Tam’s inn to their own inn in Upper Fishtown)
(time: late night)
Both Arztie and Aluna and trying to get back to sleep under the warm blankets of their beds. Arztie is tossing and turning and can’t seem to sleep, he sits up and turns to Aluna and says “Are you still awake, I cant sleep. I keep thinking about how this trip has went and what Tam did to us earlier this day.”
“You see, when we took the oath back at Tam’s office I agreed under the agreement that I remain in service to the Thief Catchers until we return to Greyhawk, I want their protection and company for the long cold return home. Especially if someone would be out to get me do to my part in bringing those two to justice. I have tried to be a good member under his employ and even a friend, after all he requested our help, I would have never travelled anywhere in the middle of one of the worst winters we have had for many years. I feel like he has treated me like a slave or a lessor being this entire journey. And then when he dismissed us the way he did, give me your cloaks and your sword and here is your payment we are done, that did not feel very warm. No invite to stay with them or join them for dinner or at least a drink, no thank you or job well done. All we got was what felt like I’m done with you get out and go away. And 25 gold, that wont even pay for our return trip with the gear we would need for the wintery trip and horse feed and provisions. It also wont pay for us to wait out the winter here in Hardby.”
“In the morning after we send the crystal to the Gynarch I’m going to go and talk with Tam and see one last time what his problem is with me and if we can work something out. I think I will need to speak with him alone. I do want you close by, I don’t trust this town and fear for your safety with the way things are in this town right now.”
“I think you need to send the courier with a letter from you, is the Gynarch siding with her brother, then this crystal given to the one that is caught will help to free her brother. If she wants Mustgrave dead then likewise this should be your stance as well and this will help her to control the captured one and insure the end to both Mustgrave and the Mayor. You must convey how you got the crystal, I suggest you say your have been sent as the messenger to deliver the crystal, but from who, who sent it to the Gynarch? You will have to figure that one out. Any thoughts?”
