THE ORSAGE DAGGER
(The 'Exactly' Dagger)
The Orsage Dagger has been owned by many people and traveled to many kingdoms. It appears as a finely crafted dagger, with an ornate handle wrapped with golden wire. It has a shiny blade, plain, about 1 span long. It radiates faint magic if detected.
The royal armorer of King Winfield of Renalse crafted the dagger itself in 3730. It was given its magical properties by the High Wizard Boon and given to King Winfield as a birthday present. Boon presented it to Winfield and called it "The Orsage Dagger", orsage being an ancient term for 'perfectly clear'. The King was glad.
The dagger was subsequently given to one of the king's frequent female visitors as a reward for a 'job well done'. Not knowing it's true value the prostitute traded the dagger for some clothes to a merchant in Poducca who then took the dagger south with him to Warisht. When Boon found out he was not happy with Winfield but they were friends and he forgave him.
The dagger stayed with the merchant for many years until 3741 when a halfling named Rugrat Britchwissel "found" the dagger. Rugrat was a henchman of Captain Allajar of Matrix, a young and headstrong ship's captain who was just beginning his career as a successful trader. Allajar was normally against Rugrat "finding" things (stealing would be a more appropriate term) but he let him keep the dagger.
During casual conversation Rugrat disappeared and went into hysterics. Allajar calmed him down and through trial and error discovered the command word for the dagger was "exactly". The dagger could render whoever carried it invisible! The dagger remained with Rugrat until he gave it to Percival Theodore. Percival used the dagger a great deal until his death in the Temple of the Red Scroll near Hommlet, Greyhawk in Donton of 3742. Percival, Gaspar, and Bart all were sprayed with green slime and they dissolved, their possessions included. The 'Exactly' dagger was gone.
Bart, Gaspar, and Percival were resurrected by unknown means and found in Dorles, Tarlock. They were rescued from slavery by Morgul Mordru, Jacara, Sir Steph, Brother Kennard, Teagl Valiche, Axesinker the dwarf and Damon Steelblade. This group would disband amidst party chaos in the very near future.
Later a dagger of similar qualities was given to Percival by Revered Tailtiep of the League of Snaredsun as a reward for defeating the Ice Lord in Sascrephonia (circa 3758). Percival kept this dagger until his death in Pholtus' Manor in 3800. Percival's last moments were spent using the dagger to defend himself against the thing that murdered him, a guest of Corum who decided Percival would be a threat. That guest was Baron Montok. He took the dagger and it was this dagger that lead to his being confirmed as Percival's murderer.
Corum avenged his friends death by defeating Baron Montok. Corum retrieved the dagger and buried it with Percival in the graveyard at Pholtus' Manor.
