THE MACE OF DIVINITY
The Mace of Divinity's origins are unknown. It's first recorded use was when Cas Sunvin found the Mace in the treasure of a long lost crypt. He kept the mace for its ability to destroy any undead creature or any evil extra planar creature. Skeletons, zombies, ghouls, shadows, wights, and ghasts are destroyed instantly with a successful hit. More powerful undead or extra planar creatures can sometimes resist the Mace's powers. After Cas's death his wife, the Lady Gwynneth, gave the mace to Jedn Dax.
Jedn carried the Mace until his passing. Shortly after the Mace came into the possession of Old King Meeno. Meeno used the mace to escape from the influence of the Sword of Law, which had influenced him to the point of madness. Old King Meeno fled Poducca, leaving the Sword of Law and taking the Mace of Divinity with him. With some help from the Stone Elves he made his way to Warisht and lived the rest of his days in the small fishing village of Lewiston.
In 3807 Meeno, in disguise, passed the mace to Eioin Boughsinger and promptly died. Eioin hopes to use the mace to defeat the powers of the Sword Rulers, up to and including destroying King Crindl.
The Mace of Divinity has also been proven to allow whoever is touching or carrying it to be more attuned to their gods. An example of this was when the all priests except the Blades of the Sword Rulers were interfering with the transfer of mana from the gods to their priests. The mace bearer had no difficulty casting divine spells.
The Mace of Divinity is a footman's mace. It is made of wood reinforced with an unknown metal. The Mace is inlaid with precious stones and appears to be of the finest quality. It has shown to be a superior weapon in battle and if touched by anyone other than a priest the person will suffer severe pain until they are not in contact with the mace.
Only priests may wield the Mace of Divinity. If a priest allows someone else to touch the mace the painful feeling is not present. If detected for, the Mace radiates strong magic.
