Deep in the heavy, dense forest of Aztechia two groups were traveling towards each other. Their destination was "Hellige Åbning" a holy, grassy area in one of the few openings of the thick canopy of that vast timberland. It was a meeting place and the two groups were making good time heading to just such a meeting. They were to arrive by the autumnal equinox and neither party could be late.
From the north, the first group consisting of ten larger than normal box turtles, galumphed along at a pace which upon closer inspection, if noticed at all, would've seemed oddly fast. Not to mention, the ten moved in close, single-file formation. Each turtle's shell pattern was eerily similar to the others with only slight variations.
However, the shell pattern of the lead turtle, which was additionally larger even than the other over-sized turtles, was unique and opalesque when brief shafts of sunlight occasionally glinted off as the turtles marched on.
From the south, the second group moved along as well.
This company of larger-than-normal rhinoceros beetles moved along the floor in a wedge formation, but it too consisted of ten members.
It would be days before the two would eventually meet at the clearing of that most holy of days.
The turtle troop was first to arrive. The front turtle stopped, just outside the sunlight. The days were getting in shorter and the leaves were in full color change. It was the peak of their annual transition from the millions of differing shades of green to their true hues of a similar number of various combinations of vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and browns.
The trailing turtles fanned out to the left and right, forming a half-circle to either side of their leader just inside the shade from the sunlight.
As the last turtle stopped in their place, as one, the beetles moved forward into an opposite, but equal position completing the circle, almost appearing to materialize in place.
The two companies looked at each other. The mood appeared tense on this autumnal day. The forest had gone deathly still and even the bugs did not dare make a sound.
The beetle-leader was the first to move. Stepping forward into the sunlight, it rose up onto it's back legs as the creature moved further into the light. Although the size didn't alter, with each small step taken, the body modified from the shape of the beetle's shiny blackness into that of a glimmering, winged powerfully built male form.
He was dressed in a tunic and pantaloons made from layers of shimmering nearly translucent cloth. On his head was a crown of the tiniest delicate flowers. His boots rose up to his knees and he wore a sword as delicate as a babies hair. The deep ebony of his skin continued to hold the gleaming black shine displayed while in the beetle form. When he finally reached the middle of the circle of light, the transformation was complete.
Then the turtle-leader moved from the edge of the darkness and into the light. As the turtle rose upon it's back legs and continued forward, the shell-back lifted off and rose up into the air, morphing into a kite shape shield. It floated over the top and onto the arm of what was now an armored warrior, as the under-shell also had changed into plate armor covering the body. Upon reaching the center, the cumbersome boxy turtle shape was now a helmed warrior.
The warriors hands rose up and removed the crowned helm, displaying the chainmailed covered head of a pale-white skinned beautiful woman.
The male bowed deeply and spoke, "Your majesty."
The armored lady bowed in kind, "My lord, y'Angsti."
The wings on the back of the man open and closed rapidly rubbing up against each other, making only the slightest musical sound. The movement was picked up by the other nine companions who'd also stepped into the light and had transformed into similar looking creatures.
As one, the turtles moved forward, each having changed into a plate-armored warrior form.
"I'd forgotten how beautiful you are, y'Ini Ania."
She smiled from under her coif of linked metal rings, "y'Angsti Divis, you always were a flatterer."
Again the black skinned man bowed deeply, "You, dearest Ania, are my only muse."
The y'Ini Ania made a scoffing sound, but smiled as her eyes twinkled. However, the smile faded as the two locked eyes and stepped forward towards each other. Stopping nose-to-nose, they stared at each other. In a flash, they clashed into an embrace of fierce passion. Hungrily they kissed their embrace.
The world around them began to spin. Like two emboldened lovers, their mouths devoured each other gaining fulfillment and power from the other's craving desire, as the world about them continued to spin faster and faster.
As they roiled in their entwining, the world continued to pick up speed. Soon the clothing and armor they'd been wearing began spinning off of each of them releasing the wings of female warrior from underneath the armor.
The two fairies were soon naked as they began to entangle themselves in the act of magical coitus in the warmth of the autumnal Hellige Åbning afternoon sunlight.
They rose up, their wings beating a blur, to hover just off of the ground, as the two became one.
On and on they maneuvered in their carnal embrace. Their intimacy becoming a creature of substance. Eventually their lusts were sated and the spinning world slowed and finally came back into focus as it stopped.
The two continued to embrace, holding each other close. They were equal sized and the pattern of palest white and deepest black as their legs and arms were interwoven between them was a stark contrast to the soft colors all about them.
The two parted stepping back and away. Assistants having moved to them, covered each in heavy warm robes. There were they'd been together, two crystalline eggs remained leaning on one another. The fairy man and woman whose eyes had never left the other, smiled in a glowing embrace of deep love.
Other attendants moved to the eggs. Two armored knights stood to either side of each egg formally guarding each, as a dark-skinned male and female pair knelt next to each egg. The kneeling fairies began slowly chanting a tuneless song.
As they began to sing, from within the eggs, a small darkness of movement could be seen forming and fidgeting about. The singing became slightly louder.
Other attendants moved about the woman and man. Soon a small table appeared and on it were two goblets which filled themselves with deep, red wine. They sat down on chairs which appeared beneath them. The two lovers only had eyes for each other. Eventually, with the sound of the singing continuing to grow in the background, y'Ini Ania asked, "So what now?"
"We are free to be... us, I suppose." y'Angsti Divis' replied, his eyes never leaving hers.
"I wonder what that will be like?" y'Ini Ania asked smiling demourly, she was the first to break eye contact.
The nearly white irises of Divis' eyes contained only the hint of blue in them, and provided a dark contrast to the close pigment of his skin. She was drowning in them and she had to come back to the surface to get some air.
"I've missed you." He said after a long while of looking at Ania.
"And I, you." She returned to staring at those pools of near-white.
Eventually singing had grown to a loud buzz. Ania had no idea how much time since it had begun as she was lost in him and he in her. She stood and held out her hand, "Shall we see our work?"
"Of course." Divis stood as Ania rose. As they reached out towards each other, the table, goblets and chairs vanished. The two grasped hands, moving to where the eggs were being attended.
The darkness inside had nearly filled the eggs and the shells appeared to begin the show breaking marks on them.
The singing stopped abruptly as the shell fell away from the two naked child-fairies. A pale male and a deep black female were revealed from the remains of the shells.
The two looked about them, as the attendants covered them in blankets and ushered them towards their waiting parents. Ania and Divis knelt down in front of the two child-fairies. Divis took the girl's hands and brought them to his face. He stared long into his daughter's eyes.
At the same time Ania leaned forward. The boy did the same and two rested their foreheads together smiling at the other.
After a while, the children switched and Divis leaned forward to touch foreheads with his son, but Ania embraced her daughter's face with her hands.
Eventually, both parents stood, tears in their eyes and loving smiles on their faces.
Ania spoke first raising her face to the sky, she lifted up the crowned helm saying in a loud voice, "I decree y'Angsti Lindon is born this day."
Divis spoke next and held up the crown of delicate flowers. He turned his face upward to the sky, "I decree y'Ini Kerra is born this day."
They lowered their arms and turned to look at the children.
Ania turned and moved to the boy who was now armored and flanked by the four armored fairies. She handed him the crowned helm and the boy bowed to her. Ania curtsied formally in return. The girl was now dressed like her father with the four attendants behind her. Her father moved to her and placed the flowered crown formally on her head. y'Ini Kerra curtsied and Divis bowed.
Ania and Divis nodded to the attendants who ushered the children each to a seperate side, out of the light. The pale skinned boy y'Angsti Lindon was ushered to the north side of the clearing and the girl y'Ini Kerra towards south side.
Divis and Ania both had eyes filled with tears as they returned to looking at the other. They were deeply in love. After a while of dreamily looking at the other, they turned away and noticed they were now alone. The others had gone.
Ania took in a deep breath and sighed. She asked, "So..?"
"As long as we are together, I do not care." Divis smiled at his lady. She smiled back.
Breaking the eye contact, Ania looked away at the ground, "I had received word of 'issues' to the west. The bjerg hjerte is being sought by a 'true friend' who is in need."
"Is not that mountain located near the schism?"
"Yes." For the first time since their embrace, a darkness passed over her face, but it was quickly gone.
"How do you suppose we might be of assistance?"
"The bjerg hjerte is guarded by magics and magical creatures. The 'true friend' has power, but these things are beyond him."
Ania continued, "Not to mention, he is ancient by his years. I've felt a sadness in his heart. It is deep and..." She trailed off.
Divis asked, "Deep and..?"
"Dark."
"Do you know what he will do with the bjerg hjerte should he obtain it?" Divis asked.
"I've no idea, but I know him. He's faithful to his god and he is loving in his soul. I've sat next to him many times in his travels, usually when his need was most."
"You spoke with him? A human?"
"Not in words. Just in dreams," Ania replied.
"Oh really... Just his dreams?" Divis barked with tension in his words. "Never visited him in guise, then my Lady?"
"Dear me, after all these years you're not jealous are you darling one?" Ania moved toward him and hugged him close.
A lying Divis replied with a pouty lip, "No."
"Really?"
"Well. A little I guess." He told her with slight accusation, "You never came into my dreams."
"That's because I came to your bed and I never visited his in this or any other form." She smiled at him and he looked at her, "So tell me, which is better?"
His pouty expression eventually vanished and the two broke their hug.
Divis thought for a moment. "I should wonder if he will use it to help heal the schism." Ania shrugged in reply.
After a bit of thought, in what he thought was in a very formal way, Divis bowed formally to Ania and spoke haughtily, "If a 'true friend' has forth needs then forsooth we have-est a place where-upon which to travel therefore."
Ania looked at him with odd confusion, "What?" Seeing her expression, Divis shrugged embarrassingly.
Ania told him, "Don't start acting like a poet-king now. Remember you are no longer y'Angsti, My Lord." She emphasised the title particularly.
Divis laughed, "Oh how I missed your delicate pragmatism your majesty...my darling love." He bowed again.
Ania looked at him with a playful scowl on her face. "A huh," was all she replied. Her smile returned and then her wings began to beat. Her robes transformed into a flowing gown. Quickly up into the air towards the canopy opening Ania rose. Her voice trailed away as she climbed higher-and-higher, "Then come with me my darling husband."
Divis, a happy grin splitting his face, followed right after her.
They were finally free.
